Yorkshire Coast Online has today found out that one of Fileys oldest public houses is to close its doors for the foreseeable future after this Status was left on the pubs Facebook Profile today
“It is with great sadness that I have to announce that The Grapes will not be reopening as a pub anymore, as admiral have sold the building UNLICENSED.
So it is the end of an era for The Grapes. Another traditional pub gone in Filey.
I will miss all of my regulars, who have become, not just customers, but friends.
I officially have to vacate by 8.5.2020.
I will keep in touch with you all best I can.
Love you all.
Stay in & stay safe.
Nick.Shell & Jaik.”
The pub with a 5 bedroomed accommodation was advertised with an asking price of £175,000 plus vat. We have had no official response from the new owners but information supplied would mean that they would need to apply for a license if wantng to re-open as a public house
The Yorkshire Coast Online team would like to express our best wishes to the current licensees and we hope this is not a case of THE FIRST ONE OF MANY to meet a similair fate due to the current pandemic.
