Bridlington School now closed to some students

News from the Bridlington School Website

School closure – Year 7, 8, 9, 10 and 12.

Unfortunately, in light of the Governments announcement tonight, in consultation with the Local Authority and the Chair of Governors, the Senior Team and I have had to make the difficult but pragmatic decision to partially close Bridlington School based on the safe levels of staffing required to ensure student safety. This is because 30% of our teaching workforce have had to self-isolate due to displaying the symptoms of coronavirus or having a family member who they live with displaying the symptoms.

This decision has been made to allow staff to self-isolate for the new recommended time period of 14 days and to ensure that we are able to safely open the school to students in key examination groups.

The partial closure will be in place staring Tuesday 17th March until Monday 30th March (subject to change).

Bridlington School will continue to remain open to students in Years 11 and 13.

Children entitled to free school meals who are not displaying any Coronavirus symptoms will be able to collect a ‘grab bag meal’ from the schools main reception area between 12.45-1.15pm during this period.

As a Headteacher and a parent, I sincerely appreciate these are very uncertain and worrying times and want to assure you that student safety is of highest priority.

If as parents we are able to maintain some sort of ‘normal’ school routines and encourage our children to undertake the work set by teachers via ‘Showmyhomework,’ keeping our children busy and focused should help to reduce both their potential boredom and anxiety levels.

We will continue to update you via text messages, Facebook and our school website.
