A Whitby donkey operator has been banned from keeping equines after her animals were found severely underweight living in horrific conditions.
Margarite Geraldine Gibson, 76, of Netherby Close, Sleights, Whitby who ran Whitby Donkeys on the local beach, pleaded guilty to four animal welfare offences when she appeared before Scarborough Magistrates’ Court last week.
25 equines were found living in a “neglected state”, despite the fact over £22,000 had been raised to help care for them.
